Dr. Anandibai Joshi, the first Indian female physician, shattered traditional gender norms in India to forge a path for women.

Married to a significantly older man, she travelled to America in 1886, earning her place as the first Indian woman to obtain an MD. Her success challenged the notion that women’s identities were confined to the roles of mothers, wives, or daughters, proving their capability for independent achievement.
