Pedro by Natesh Hegde | Cinema House | North Meets South | Screening
Set in an area comprising rain-soaked natural forests and cultivated farmlands in a village in interior Uttara Kannada, director Natesh Hegde’s debut feature film Pedro has been described as a much needed addition to the Kannada cinema ouevre.
The film is produced by actor and director Rishab Shetty.
The human-animal and human-nature conflicts are integral parts of the movie. Pedro , who assists an electrician in fixing power problems occurring amid incessant rains, accepts the job of guarding the farmland of the landlord Hegde. Pedro’s dog dies consuming the poison kept to kill the wild boar. A drunk Pedro, who wows to kill the wild boar , instead kills the landlord’s cow and the error proves costly.
The screening will be followed by a conversation with the filmmaker.

About the Director:
Director, scriptwriter Natesh Hegde was born and brought up in the Western Ghats of Karnataka. He studied masters in journalism under Karnataka university Dharwad. Pedro is his debut feature length film, revealed in Busan’s New Currents Competition in 2021.
