Unmute the future | Workshop by Soumik Datta for Emerging Music Artivists (Apply Now)
The session unfolds as an immersive learning framework designed to encourage emerging artists to reimagine themselves as changemakers for social transformation. Rooted in experiential learning, it bridges the need between exploratory artistic practice and social impact thinking.
This one-day workshop invites musicians to move beyond performance. Through curated mentorship, collaborative creation, and socio-musical thinking, participants are guided through a dynamic co-creative process to:
Understand – the ecosystem of music and social impact.
Ideate – with facilitators on how the arts can manifest change
Create – collaborative music in smaller groups and as a larger collective that shares the craft of social and ecological music-making.
The workshop will engage 15 selected emerging musicians to explore their identities beyond performers — as storytellers, problem-solvers, and change agents. By engaging with sound as both expression and intervention, artists begin to shape work that responds meaningfully to the world around them.
As the culmination of the evening, there will be a performance featuring original pieces created by the shortlisted participants of the workshop, in collaboration with Soumik Datta and his ensemble. This work-in-progress showcase will offer a chance to share the day’s creative outcomes with a wider audience and reflect on the power of collective musical expression.
