Nevermore by Cécile Wajsbrot

Nevermore by Cécile Wajsbrot

As part of the Life of the Mind series, curated by Seagull Books, join us for the evening and explore the profound intersections of literature, translation and the human experience as acclaimed French author Cécile Wajsbrot speaks about her writing process, followed by a conversation between Wajsbrot and her translator Tess Lewis, exploring the themes of Wajsbrot’s novel Nevermore.

In Nevermore, published by Seagull Books (2024), a grieving translator retreats to Dresden to translate Virginia Woolf’s To the Lighthouse, delving into questions of loss, destruction and renewal. A lyrical meditation on decay and resilience, beautifully rendered in Lewis’s English translation.

The book will be available for sale, and the author will be signing copies after the event.
