Parabola of Dance

by bringing together 3 brilliant Bharatanatyam, Kathak, and Contemporary dancers and choreographers who are going to perform and then speak at length about the process and choreographic choices they make.

About the Dancers

Gaurav Bhatti | Kathak / Contemporary dance based on Kathak

Gaurav, a full-time dancer and choreographer, navigates the artistic confluence of classical Kathak and contemporary dance. He is from Canada and has been associated with Aditi Mangaldas Dance Company for quite a number of years. Gaurav’s artistic endeavours have earned recognition from the Canada Arts Council, receiving multiple grants that underscore his contribution to the dance landscape. He is currently immersed in the development of a full-length production inspired by the works of the 17th-century Sufi poet, Bulleh Shah. The solo production is scheduled to premiere in Vancouver, Canada in March 2025.

Prashant More | Contemporary dance

Prashant is an interdisciplinary artist based in Goa, engaging in artistic roles as a performer, choreographer, teacher, and dance filmmaker. He graduated from the Attakkalari Centre for Movement Arts in Bangalore, India and subsequently worked as a repertoire dancer. He underwent training in choreography and physical experimental performances in Amsterdam and Berlin. As an educator, Prashant is passionate about creating spaces that allow individuals to explore freedom and authenticity in their bodies.

Dr. Himanshu Srivastava | Bharatanatyam

Dr. Srivastava is an established Bharatanatyam dancer, research scholar and painting artist based in Delhi. He is a disciple of Dr. Saroja Vaidyanathan, Smt. Kamalini Dutt and has been extending his dance skills under Smt. Rama Vaidyanathan. A graded artiste of Doordarshan, he has received a fellowship from the Ministry of Culture India for connecting ancient Indian sculptures with Bharatanatyam. His dance draws a lot of inspiration from paintings and vice versa.
