On May 22, 2019, we curated and hosted ‘Farm 2 Fork | Communities Cultures Cuisines’ (F2F), a first-of-its-kind one day Organic Gardening workshop at the G5A Study in partnership with IDFC FIRST Bank (as part of the Warburg Pincus Volunteering Week mandate) and in association with Earthoholics, the urban farming experts, for the women and youth from Worli Koliwada in Mumbai and for the IDFC FIRST Bank employees.
The intent of the workshop was to provide information, facilitate conversations and activities towards creating beautiful, green spaces in one’s own homes and neighborhood.
Over time, we are hoping for such activities to help initiate greening and farming work directly at Worli Koliwada, with an aim that these activities can sustain, scale and become a revenue model for the community to benefit from.
LIVE Kitchen on the G5A Terrace was the highlight of the workshop wherein the participants used the same ingredients from the fruiting vegetables that they had learnt to plant earlier in the day to cook a dish – Tomato Soup, from Basil, Tomatoes and Chilies.
“I enjoyed this workshop a lot. Most of all the fact that we can grow the plants at our home itself, fresh and at our place. I will grow methi (fenugreek), chili, palak (spinach), kaddi patta (curry leaf). I got to experience and learn things about planting I didn’t know. “An interesting workshop, from which I got to know a lot and most of all was a lot of fun. I would like to attend anything more that you will organise in the future. What I really liked in this workshop was that we could do this right at our homes and I could grow some vegetables for my family. I do intend to plant palak (spinach), let’s see how that goes.”
