Vasumathi Badrinathan
Vasumathi Badrinathan is an eminent Indian vocalist, performing in the Carnatic music tradition. She was initiated into this art at a very young age by her mother late Smt. Padma Seshadri. She subsequently trained with the renowned guru late Smt. T. R. Balamani. With over three decades of performing experience, recipient of the prestigious Fulbright Fellowship & the Erasmus Mundus Scholarship, Dr. Vasumathi tours extensively and presents her concerts in many widely known national and international festivals.
As a thinking musician, Vasumathi is involved in several research projects, and collaborates with musicians across the globe. She contributes to some of the leading Indian and overseas publications on art and culture. She authored the popular and widely-read fortnightly column on Noteworthy on music, in the Asian Age.
