About the poets:
Arvind Krishna Mehrotra, born in Lahore, lives in Dehra Dun. He is the author of Collected Poems 1968-2014 (Penguin Modern Classics) and Selected Poems and Translations (NYRB/Poets 2020) and translator of Songs of Kabir (NYRB Classics). His most recent collection is Book of Rahim & Other Poems (Literary Activism-Westland).
Forrest Gander, born in the Mojave Desert, lives in California. A translator/writer with degrees in geology and literature, he’s received the Pulitzer Prize, Best Translated Book Award, and fellowships from the Library of Congress, Guggenheim, and US Artists Foundations. He has numerous books of poetry and translations and his recent Twice Alive focuses on human and ecological intimacies. In 2024, New Directions will bring out his long poem on the desert, Mojave Ghost.
