Jugani wants to leave home. So much so that she has managed to get admission to one of the world’s top residential schools in the UK on a full scholarship – but her parents are not convinced.
Co-authored by the protagonists of the film, Ready Steady is a high-school drama that tracks the stories of 5 teenagers who come from bustling, ghettoised neighbourhoods and navigate elite posh school life in Delhi. It offers a peek into what it means to grow up in India today.
The stories are based on the real lives of the protagonists, making the film as unique in its process as it is in its storytelling.

About the director :
Safdar’s debut film Chippa– about a ten-year old’s exploration of the streets of Calcutta over one single night- premiered at the Edinburgh International Film Festival before being acquired by Netflix and releasing globally in 2020. Before his time in film, Safdar was a Teach for India fellow – serving in an under-resourced school in East Delhi full-time as a Class Teacher for two years.
Safdar currently leads Lighthouse Studios – a young adult film company that supports young storytellers from under-resourced neighbourhoods across the country to make films about stories that are important to them.

About Cinema House:
G5A presents Cinema House: an opportunity to celebrate the experience of collective film viewing. For one weekend a month, our black box theatre transforms into a single-screen theatre dedicated to independent, regional, and contemporary cinema.
Instructions:
- We request you to bring warm clothes as it gets chilly inside the black box as temperatures need to be controlled at optimum levels as per technical requirements.

- Food, beverages and water are strictly prohibited inside the black box. Please do not carry them in your bags either.
- Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis.
- No Late Entries will be allowed. Please plan to arrive at least 15 mins prior to the start time of the program.
- When attending a program at the G5A warehouse, attendees agree to be photographed/videographed/recorded for promotional use by organizers through both print and electronic media channels.
