Invoking the River
Carrying on the tradition of paying homage to our sacred rivers, Showhouse is proud to present the India Tour of “Invoking the River” – a 70 minute, thought-provoking, Kathak Dance rendition, brought to India by the Chitresh Das Dance Institute, one of the finest Kathak institutions of USA.
‘Invoking the River’ is a revolution that carries a strong message — one that is more relevant now, than ever before. It is the tale of India’s four sacred rivers, the pain of rampant pollution, and their retribution.
The stunning choreography by the very talented Charlotte Moraga, music composer Utsav Lal’s LIVE music on stage on the Piano, and Zuheb Khan on the Tabla, leaves you with the message that rivers are not powerless victims in the hands of human exploitation.
The power of Kathak, the serenity of the piano, the beats of the tabla and the magic of a multimedia presentation as the backdrop by award-winning filmmaker Alka Raghuram — all make up for an enthralling storytelling visual experience.
Invoking the River will perform at the LTG Auditorium in Delhi on 31st January at 7pm, G5A Auditorium in Mumbai on 2nd February at 7:30pm, and at G.D Birla Sabhagar in Kolkata on 4th February at 6:00pm.
