T.ill APES and Sapiens Live at the warehouse #01
Born in Bangalore, India, T.ill APES is India’s answer to what a live hip-hop band can be. Drawing inspiration from the likes of J Dilla, Anderson Paak, and RHCP, they make sure the focus remains on catchy melodies and lyrics backed by some thumping low-end and resulting grooviness.
T.ill APES is Doc. Awes, Soorya Praveen, Sange Wangchuk, Philip John, and Gautam David.
Having cemented a position as one of the most in-demand artists of the country with spots at the majority of Indian music festivals (including Lollapalooza, Echoes of Earth, NH7, and Magnetic Fields to name a few), Till Apes is now expanding their sonic horizons while retaining the same intent to get audiences grooving and moving. Much of last year was spent crafting instrumental music that deeply resonates with its members, and as the band gets ready to embark on its 3rd nationwide tour, it feels appropriate to announce a new chapter for the group.
‘Apes & Sapiens’ puts a spotlight on collaborations by bringing together some of the most talented musicians from the scene. Featuring Jason Sharat on drums, Surya Kalyanaraman on bass, and Allan Varghese on keys, one can expect a fresh new musical odyssey that is as dynamic as it is versatile.
The band will be supported by Taktook, an instrumental psychedelic funk-rock band from Mumbai, India. Their songs incorporate syncopated grooves, memorable melodies, and sounds from Afrobeat, Funk, World Music, Disco, Psychedelia, and more.
Live at the warehouse, a performance series, brings together independent artists who amplify new sounds and divergent thoughts.
