Smart(phone) Storytelling | Screening
5 short films from 5 independent filmmakers,
Five filmmakers who have made their individual mark on the Indian independent film circuit — Saurav Rai, Archana Atul Phadke, Faraz Ali, Saumyananda Sahi, and Prateek Vats — have come together to ask, through their films, can we make cinema from the thing buzzing in our pockets?
These five short films were part of the MAMI Select : Filmed on iPhone program, shot on iPhone 15 Pro Max and edited on MacBook Pro with M3.
From Kashmir to Bangalore, the Indo-Nepalese border to Rajasthan, from Kolkata to Delhi, these are intimate, prescient portraits of what it means to be present and tender to the world even as it crumbles. The filmmakers will be joining us for a post-screening conversation, to discuss not just the ease and exigencies of shooting a film on a mobile phone, but also their respective visions of storytelling and how we can leverage the technology available to express the imagination.

About Cinema House
provides an opportunity to celebrate the experience of collective film viewing. Once a week, our black box theatre transforms into a single-screen theatre dedicated to independent, regional, and contemporary world cinema.
- We request you to bring warm clothes as it gets chilly inside the black box as temperatures need to be controlled at optimum levels as per technical requirements.
- Students must present a valid college ID at the box office. If a student ID card cannot be presented, the Regular Pass price of INR 250 will apply. This category of pass is only valid for students aged 21 and below.
- Due to ongoing construction in our compound, parking for cars is not available. You can enter the space through Western Railways Sports Ground on Tulsi Pipe Road. In case of any issues, feel free to call us on our warehouse number : +91-8879208475
- Food, beverages and water are strictly prohibited inside the black box. Please do not carry them in your bags either.
- Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis.
- No Late Entries will be allowed. Please plan to arrive at least 15 mins prior to the start time of the program.
- When attending a program at the G5A warehouse, attendees agree to be 7. photographed/videographed/recorded for promotional use by organizers through both print and electronic media channels.
