Photo Essay by Apeksha Agarwal

We think of dark and light within the regime of dimorphism: two opposites of each other on a straight line. However, it resembles something more like yin and yang. Finding light within darkness and darkness within light.

Agarwal’s photography aims to grapple with this duality and fluidity of light and dark. Her work insists that there is light in the darkness that we are currently living through and no matter the depths of this darkness, there is a light waiting to be found within it. The images are created through playing with light and shadow. This presents a juxtaposition of the stark contrast between black and white, thus highlighting the movements and motion to the naked eye.
