If you’d like to just say hello
At G5A, we believe that art and culture have the power to catalyze change for the better – by challenging people to think critically, creatively, and courageously.
Through a series of diverse programs and projects we are committed to nurturing a vibrant, safe, and inclusive platform that encourages the creative and just – in thought and expression.
In doing so, our endeavor is to enrich people’s lives, rebuild resilient and responsible communities, and strengthen the cultural fabric of our community and city.
Our work is framed through five elements:
history
The G5A Foundation for Contemporary Culture was envisioned and founded by Anuradha Parikh, an architect and filmmaker based in Mumbai.
Her wide-ranging independent and collaborative projects and her commitment towards creating deeper socio cultural dialogues, have organically led to the formation of G5A, a multi-functional community space and cultural center in Central Mumbai.
G5A is a not-for-profit organization that encourages contemporary art and culture that is experimental and courageous, good governance that is inclusive and participatory, and ecosystems that are equitable and resilient.

It is a repurposed warehouse in the mill district of central Mumbai and is made up of diverse and flexible spaces: the Black Box, the Study, the Terrace, and our restaurant, PORT Kitchen & Bar. At the warehouse we curate programs across a range of contemporary art forms and disciplines, while providing a safe and inclusive space for new ideas, new conversations, and new connections.

Through In Residence, we work with contemporary, visionary artists to bring their ideas and concepts to life through conversations, space for rehearsals and workshops, along with presenting long runs of their work.

We bring together local communities, artists, creative professionals, government, and other stakeholders to foster culturally vibrant, inclusive, and resilient neighborhoods. We currently work with the Worli Koliwada community and the BMC in G South Ward, in multiple ways: the restoration and revitalization of the worli fort precinct, creating livelihood opportunities through this project; recording their stories and myths, self-run heritage walks, theatre projects, training in the arts, and publications.
designs collaborative learning experiences with artists, for artists.
We present workshops and courses that reinforce depth, rigor, and critical consciousness and spark creativity, innovation, and future thinking, within contemporary art practice. We return our focus to the slow and mindful process of immersion through a deeper engagement with art and artists, legacy and the contemporary, and ideology and practice.
