Maqbool by Vishal Bhardwaj | Irrfan (1967 – 2020) : A Retrospective
As Irrfan once said,
“There was a movie I once did called Maqbool. After watching it, I swear, Shakespeare himself called me up and said, ‘Irrfan you nailed it,”
Though this dialogue was part of a comic stint, the actor’s performance in Maqbool was a peek into his prowess and what the world was yet to witness. Based on Shakespeare’s Macbeth, greed, desire and power overtake Maqbool and ultimately pave the way for his downfall.
Post-screening, Sachin Chatte will be in conversation with Vishal Bhardwaj, Rekha Bhardwaj,Naseeruddin Shah, Pankaj Kapur and Tabu.
