Mumbai is Upgrading
Mumbai is Upgrading, a series of digital artworks, aims to start a conversation about the fluid visual landscape of the Maximum City. As a city that has been born from the sea, the demand for space has been ubiquitous over the last two centuries. Today, with massive infrastructure overhauls and many mega projects underway, Mumbai’s urban and spatial identity is in flux. Aaran Patel and Jeff Nelson focus on a few heritage buildings and spaces that are either at the center of raging debates or standing witness to the city’s insatiable appetite for land. How the city and its citizens choose to define development will influence whether those buildings will remain standing and inform the future, or be razed to rubble.
