Piku by Shoojit Sircar | Irrfan (1967 – 2020) : A Retrospective
‘Death aur shit…yeh do cheezen kisi ko, kahin bhi, kabhi bhi aa sakti hai’
(Death and shit…these are two things that can happen to anyone, anywhere and at any point of time)
These words that Irrfan’s Rana says when he berates Amitabh Bacchan’s Bhaskor Banerjee surmises the profound connections that the characters keep drawing between bowel movement, relationships and life in general. Piku is an architect who lives her life on her own terms and resides in Delhi with her equally stubborn father. Enter Rana, owner of a taxi business, who joins this duo and the three embark on a reluctant trip to Kolkata to sell their ancestral home.
Post screening, Shubhra Gupta will be in conversation with Shoojit Sircar, Ronnie Lahiri and Juhi Chaturvedi.
Irrfan (1967-202): A Retrospective
Irrfan : the actor whose face penned a million stories!
January’s Cinema House is a celebration and exploration of the actor’s malleable artistry –charted through three chapters: films of his early years, films that re-defined the idea of love, and films that featured his breakout roles.
