Unwrapping a bandish

The vibrancy and intricacy in traditional Indian music comes alive through the bandish – the melodic composition. Much like the way water takes on the shape of its vessel, a bandish takes its shape and form based on the raag it is drawn from. It encapsulates the essence of the raag.
