Our bodies can be a confusing tapestry of experiences – pleasure and trauma co-exist on the skin, and there is a constant tug of war where we push and prod our bodies to fit ideals and expectations.
When I turn the lens towards myself, I hope to expel any feelings of judgement. This remains a constant practice. With every new set of self portraits, I come closer to resetting this judgement to zero, in order to be neutral.
The mirrors, flowers, and water in my work serve as motifs of this elusive ideal, tenderness, and the passage of time.
