Mohini Dey

Dey, a bass guitarist, has been hogging the limelight since she was 11; she has played with some revered musicians and music composers from an age when most girls and boys live in a different universe. Dey was introduced to the guitar at the age of three by her father, Sujoy Dey, a bassist, and then to music composer and drummer Ranjit Barot.

Mohini Dey was listed under Forbes India’s 30 Under 30 list for 2015. Dey has been working professionally in the music industry for the past 17 years.

She has been working with Dr. A.R. Rahman for the past 8 and a half years. Dey has toured with the biggest Japanese band, B’z. She has also played in over 60 movies and albums worldwide.

Dey has worked with artists like Zakir Hussain, Steve Vai, Guthrie Govan, Mike Stern, Simon Phillips, Quincy Jones, Vinnie Colaiuta, Stanley Clarke, Jordan Rudes from Dream Theatre, Dave Weckl, Sivamani, Marco Minneman, Louiz Banks, Ranjit Barot, Prasanna, Victor Wooten, Steve Bailey, Prasanna Ramaswamy, Plini, to name a few.

Salim–Sulaiman, Hariharan, Sonu Kakkar, Arijit Singh, Clinton Cerejo, Neeti Mohan, Amit Trivedi, Benny Dayal, Sunidhi Chauhan, Shreya Ghoshal, Shafqat Amanat Ali, Gurdasman, and others are among the Indian artists with whom she has collaborated.

Dey has also worked with MTV India, Nike, Levi’s, Titan, Roland, and Bacardi amongst others.
